A New Chapter for the Hythe Ferry

The Hythe Pier Company has acquired the strategic assets of the historic Hythe & Southampton Ferry from the Liquidators, helping to protect the long-term future of this iconic crossing.

While there is currently no scheduled passenger ferry service, this acquisition brings together many of the key assets associated with the route and provides the strongest possible foundation to explore future opportunities.

Discussions are already underway with potential operators and partners about what a future service could look like, and how a sustainable passenger link across Southampton Water may once again be delivered.

There remains a significant amount of work ahead, but this is an important step towards protecting a service that has connected communities across Southampton Water for generations.
